Sat 29th February 2020, 10-4pm, £95
Landscpae work with artist Ewen Duncan. Learn how to create a landscape working from drawing sketches moving onto oils or acrylic. You will explore composition, colour relationships and colour harmony. Ewen will help you develop observation skills, color awareness and learn about light and shadows. We’ll investigate various techniques, sketching tools, and approaches to oil & acrylic painting.  Suitable for all levels

NEW Lino Printing Workshop – Inspired by Spring & Easter

Lino cutting and printing with artist Jill Dow. A step by step introduction of designing, cutting and printing. What images does the word Easter conjure up for you? Spring flowers, Easter bunnies, Hens and chickens, Woolly lambs, Mad March Hares? Create lino prints on a Spring or Easter theme, hand printing or using the printing press. Suitable for beginners as well as for those with some experience of relief printing.

Ceramic workshop, from conception to completion – hand building, £97.50
Saturday 25 April 2020, 10-4pm
Handbuilding techniques will be demonstrated and students will be encouraged to explore these techniques. You will learn the essential techniques of building forms and vessels or making tiles, glazing and surface effects guided by ceramicist Lorna MacKay. You can follow your individual vision for the work you wish to produce or use provided samples as inspiration. All levels welcome.

Interior designer Sally Morrison will explore with you how to create a mood board, how to balance colour and feel confident to use trends and develop ideas and vision. Most of us are familiar with the motifs of the Willow Pattern story, and there are many other beautiful and decorative china patterns, perfect for adapting into a simple design to carve in Lino and print in summery shades of blue. During this lino cutting and printing workshop with artist Jill Dow you will learn how to design, cut and print your own motifs and patterns. Explore different ways of working with drawing and painting materials during art4you Scotland’s popular 5day drawing and painting summer week. The week is bookable as a 5day course only.

Treat yourself to a week of art and enjoy drawing and painting in a relaxed, creative atmosphere in our country studio near Glasgow. During the summer art course artist and art lecturer Ewen Duncan will work with complete beginners to experienced artists. Days include drawing & painting with various mediums – the choice is yours.

You will have the opportunity to use the watercolour medium in a traditional way or in a very loose and impressionistic approach. You will learn how to stretch paper, apply colour washes, learn about colours, how to bring out the full translucent quality of the watercolour medium and much more. Watercolour is one of the most versatile mediums to work in and we will help you to enjoy the process whilst working in a relax setting in a bright country studio. Frances Douglas is a very passionat watercolour artist. She will guide you along the way by setting task and also encouraging you to develop our own style of watercolour painting.

This workshop will focus on landscapes, their shapes and relation to each other and how to capture these with watercolour whilst experimenting with a range of creative techniques.
This will be done by looking at the work of other artists’, tutor demonstrations and practical exercises with a view to helping you create your own vibrant and expressive watercolours.
Lead by our inhouse watercolour painting specialist, Frances Douglas, the full day session will explore new methods and techniques for artists of all levels to implement in their practice. All levels welcome.
