We are offering a variety of talks & workshops all to do with art at various weekends. Visiting artist and specialist introducing new topics and subjects.

Sat 8th February 2020, 10-4pm, £95
Study and paint winter flowers with artist Jill Dow. Whatever weather the winter throws at us, we can always rely on the delicate beauty of Snowdrops and the subtle richness of Hellebores to brighten our gardens in February. Spend a day studying their forms and colours, firstly in pencil, then in watercolour

Drawing & Painting workshop – landscapes

Landscpae work with artist Ewen Duncan. Learn how to create a landscape working from drawing sketches moving onto oils or acrylic. You will explore composition, colour relationships and colour harmony. Ewen will help you develop observation skills, color awareness and learn about light and shadows. We’ll investigate various techniques, sketching tools, and approaches to oil & acrylic painting.  Suitable for all levels

Watercolour artist Frances Douglas has broad experience in teaching art. Her passion for water colour is reflected in her translucent and vibrant paintings. In this introduction workshop you will learn how to uses this versatile medium in traditional and contemporary ways. Lino Printing workshop

NEW Lino Printing Workshop – Inspired by Spring & Easter
Sun 22 March 2020, 10-4pm, £95
Lino cutting and printing with artist Jill Dow. A step by step introduction of designing, cutting and printing. What images does the word Easter conjure up for you? Spring flowers, Easter bunnies, Hens and chickens, Woolly lambs, Mad March Hares? Create lino prints on a Spring or Easter theme, hand printing or using the printing press. Suitable for beginners as well as for those with some experience of relief printing.

Tulips, with their rich colours and the striking patterns on their petals, have a flamboyant beauty that has captivated artists for centuries. Study these vibrant flowers, their forms and colours firstly in pencil, then in watercolour with artist Jill Dow. Jill will inspire you to pick up your brushes and enjoy the colours of spring.

ceramic handbuid

Ceramic workshop, from conception to completion – hand building, £97.50
Saturday 25 April 2020, 10-4pm
Handbuilding techniques will be demonstrated and students will be encouraged to explore these techniques. You will learn the essential techniques of building forms and vessels or making tiles, glazing and surface effects guided by ceramicist Lorna MacKay. You can follow your individual vision for the work you wish to produce or use provided samples as inspiration. All levels welcome.

•    The properties of clay
•    Preparation of clay
•    Techniques of pinching, coiling & slap building
•    Application of coloured slips

The completed work will be fired and glazed ready for collection in about two weeks (postal delivery can be arranged)

Interior Design class

Interior Design workshop, colour, texture and form, £95
Saturday 16 May 2020, 10-4pm
Learn how to use colours, textures, forms and how to co-ordinate fabrics. This workshop is for people who want to be creative in their environment. Interior designer Sally Morrison will explore with you how to create a mood board, how to balance colour and feel confident to use trends and develop ideas and vision. You will learn how to build on these ideas using colour and style. All levels welcome
