Study, draw and paint these stunning winter flowers with artist Jill Dow. Whatever weather the winter may throw at us, we can always rely on the subtle beauty of hellebores to grace our gardens in February. Hellebores belong to an increasingly popular family of plants, and are now widely available in many beautiful varieties. Spend a day with Jill, first studying their forms in pencil, and then capturing their rich and subtle colours in watercolour.

Lino cutting and printing with artist Jill Dow. A step by step introduction of designing, cutting and printing. What images does the word Easter conjure up for you? Spring flowers, Easter bunnies, Hens and chickens, Woolly lambs, Mad March Hares? Create lino prints on a Spring or Easter theme, hand printing or using the printing press. Suitable for beginners as well as for those with some experience of relief printing.

The colour theory workshop for artists will be a practice-based look at the three properties of colour, hue value and saturation, how these properties relate to each other and interact. The workshop will give a framework to enable participants to continue colour exercises and experiments independently. It is suitable for both beginners and more advanced artists who want to expand the knowledge of how to mix colour for their artwork.

Handbuilding techniques will be demonstrated and students will be encouraged to explore these techniques. You will learn the essential techniques of building forms and vessels or making tiles, glazing and surface effects guided by ceramicist Lorna MacKay. You can follow your individual vision for the work you wish to produce or use provided samples as inspiration. All levels welcome.

Life drawing & painting day, 1-day workshop,
Sat 12 June 2021, 10-4pm, £95
Take a deeper look into the relatioship of body and shape in art4you Scotland’s artist lead life drawing and painting day . The day will start with 30min drawing exercises. For the rest of the day the model will hold the same pose with short breaks in-between. You can select the medium of your choice (oil, acrylic or drawing mediums). We will have a lunch break at around 12.30pm. The teaching artist Ewen Duncan has structured the course to make it suitable for those with some drawning and painting experience. A great workshop for those who wanting to strengthen their skills working from life. The course is run in small groups of max 10 and there is plenty of guidance from the teaching artist.

Explore different ways of working with drawing and painting materials during art4you Scotland’s popular 5day drawing and painting summer week. The week is bookable as a 5day course only.

Treat yourself to a week of art and enjoy drawing and painting in a relaxed, creative atmosphere in our country studio near Glasgow.
